Jae-Seong Lee, MD (이재성; also listed as Jae Seong Lee) is a Korean obstetrician and gynecologist who began ultrasound-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound (USgHIFU) treatment for uterine fibroids and adenomyosis on 1 February 2010 at Incheon Christian Hospital. He has personally performed more than 3,000 HIFU procedures (as of September 2024) and has published peer-reviewed research on the efficacy, safety, ovarian reserve, long-term outcomes and standardization of USgHIFU.

Assessment Application

On 25 June 2012, Incheon Christian Hospital applied to the Korean authorities for a New Health Technology Assessment of ultrasound-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound (USgHIFU) for uterine fibroids and adenomyosis.

Jae-Seong Lee is named in the application as the cooperating specialist in obstetrics and gynecology. The procedure was listed as a new health technology in February 2013.

In an official letter dated 3 March 2015, the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA) of Korea invited Jae-Seong Lee to its expert advisory meeting on reimbursement criteria for ultrasound-guided HIFU for uterine fibroids and adenomyosis.
