In February 2010, the treatment of uterine fibroids and adenomyosis
using Ultrasound-guided High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) was

He led the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA) New Medical Technology Evaluation from 2012 to 2013, and since then has directly performed over 3,000 HIFU procedures with integrated MRI safety guidance, and published more than 10 SCI-level papers. Through presentations at international conferences such as FIGO 2015 (Abstract No. 1117), APAGE-ISMIVS 2022, and FUSF 2025, he has enhanced the international standing of Korean HIFU treatment.
